AZAREL
Projects
Here are a few case studies where I have worked with organisations to create real change. I have worked with companies both large
and small, from global oil, to single site organisations.
Business unit of a major oil company
A national benchmark had placed
this unit as third quartile. I worked with a team from the unit to create a new vision, organisation and processes, that over
the course of six months would lead to a major reduction in operating cost, motivate both management and staff and provide a means
to increase revenue through more cost effective means of developing marginal reserves.
Reshaping a nationalised industry
This
large 100,000 plus organisation was scheduled to be partly privatised and needed to demonstrate that it could function as well as
any other publicly quoted business. I led a team that restructured the business to provide the necessary transparency and accountability.
A
major utility
This electricity supplier was implementing a new billing process and service centre. I initially developed
the process to ensure that the transition from the old to the new organisation and service was conducted in a way that did not disrupt
customer service, yet allowed staff to be retrained and positioned for the new system. I then went on to programme manage the
implementation, until that programme office could be transferred to the client team.
A large leisure centre
Seeking to become independent
from public sector funding, I worked with the management of this centre to identify key opportunities for revenue gain and where possible
to reduce operating costs in order to achieve a balanced budget. As well as identifying opportunities for revenue gain, the
work clearly showed where the centre was getting best return on the available assets (mostly space). Through changing space
rental schedules and instituting some new business practices they moved closer to the financial independence they were seeking.
Organising
for growth
I led a team working with a joint venture in the Middle East that wished to double its oil production without having to
double the size of the workforce. Through organisation restructuring, some process reengineering and changing some of their
basic views of the business, the organisation had the potential to deliver their production targets with limited expansion in numbers.
Over the last three years much of this has been put in place.
The case studies above are representative of the work done by Tim
Aikens during his consulting career with other consulting organisations. They do not constitute any offer or guarantee.
During his career, Tim has worked in a wide range of industries, including oil, electricity, telecommunications, defence, local and
central government.
Tim also has extensive international experience, including much of Europe, the USA, Middle East, South America
and Africa.
It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory.
